Frequently asked

Where is my data stored?

Places, trips, expenses, photos, and profile preferences live on your phone. Mappily does not require an account. Export places or trip expense CSVs if you want a backup outside the app.

How do I restore Mappily Pro?

Open Profile and use Restore purchases after signing into the same App Store account you used to unlock Pro ($4.99 one-time).

What are the Free limits?

Free includes up to 20 saved places, 1 trip, 3 custom categories (defaults do not count), and 1 photo per place. Existing items stay editable; limits only block creating more.

How does trip sharing work?

From a trip’s ⋯ menu, Share trip creates a link or trip code. Import trip from the Trips header to paste a link or code and create a new copy. Photos and reminder settings are not shared. Who Paid names stay on your phone.

Can I import from Google Maps?

Yes. Profile → Import & export supports Google Maps Takeout CSV and GeoJSON, with preview counts and tools for unmatched places. You can also export your library as GeoJSON, KML, or CSV.

What happens to archived places?

Archived places remain available for restore or permanent delete. They are auto-deleted after 30 days, with a countdown shown in Archive.

Where is Getting started / help in the app?

Profile → Getting started opens the walkthrough. Contextual help is also available on key screens, along with FAQs, tips, about, and feedback inside the app.

Quick tips

  • Swipe a place card left for Edit or Archive; long-press to drag-reorder in Custom order.
  • On a trip itinerary, swipe a stop for Time, Expense, or Remove; use ⋯ → Reminders for bulk stop reminders.
  • For backups, export places as CSV, GeoJSON, or KML from Profile → Import & export. Trip expense CSV is available on each trip’s Spending tab (Pro).
